All too often, large sailing yachts capable of an ocean passage are restricted ti deeper water when they arrive at their destination. The SD40 is a shallow draft cruising sailboat that will be at home exploring, and will have the protected end of the anchorage to herself when she arrives. The hull shape and ballast ratio combine to produce a stable hull that is capable of offshore passages.
Construction is tack and tape plywood and epoxy. Steel construction is possible. Plans include: materials, lines, construction, and sail plan.
Estimated cost for quality construction materials (not including power or sails) is $4 to $6 per pound. This cost includes a high level of outfit and finish you can be proud of after putting the effort into building this fine boat.
