The AURORA 50 is a classic design for live aboard cruising. She is based on the Trumpy Yacht style with classic low profile and graceful sheer. I designed her for clients who wanted to live aboard in Washington, DC during the week where they commuted to their home on weekends, plus, entertain clients during cruises on the Potomac River.

She is designed with economical powering in mind. Cruising speeds of 8 to 9 knots area possible with a top speed of 12 knots depending on power selected. there is ample fuel capacity providing a range of over 600 nmi. Her construction is steel hull, and composite plywood and epoxy deckhouse. She has two generous staterooms below and plenty of space in the main salon for entertaining. Other interior arrangements are possible. Look for more updates on the progress of construction scheduled to start in the spring of 2003.

Estimated cost for quality construction materials (not including power) is $4 to $6 per pound. This cost includes a high level of outfit and finish you can be proud of after putting the effort into building this fine boat.
