The AURORA 48 is a classic design for dayboating, weekending or liveaboard cruising. She is based on the Trumpy Yacht style with classic low profile and graceful sheer. She is set up for liveaboard cruising with an office for those who want to work on the water using the latest in communication techniques. She is capable of coastal passages and can be used to explore the waterways well beyond the limits of other boats of her size and capabilities.

She is designed for modest power. Cruising speeds of 8 to 9 knots are possible with a top speed of 12 knots depending on power selected. There is ample fuel capacity providing a range of over 600 nmi. Construction is stitch and glue plywood and epoxy over plywood frames and bulkheads with a healthy amount of fiberglass and epoxy to seal her up. A CNC cut hull kit is available ready to assemble. She has accommodations for two in a master stateroom and a convertible dinette when guests are aboard. Other interior arrangements are possible.

Estimated cost for quality construction materials (not including power) is $4 to $6 per pound. This cost includes a high level of outfit and finish you can be proud of after putting the effort into building this fine boat.
